Not been on for AGES but need to rant

i've not used any boards for a long time because i felt i'd got what i needed from them and felt i needed to 'move on' for want of a better word.

i've just come back from staying at my j.w parents house for a few days (which was long enough) we don't usually bring the subject of 'it' up but the other night i got it all, the bile was out, they were on defensive mode, to the point of shouting, insulting me, telling me that they'll 'cut me off' if they find out i'm apostate, then laughing at me and causing me to actualy feel worthless it was unreal.

i told them i'm an atheist and tried to tell them what the 'truth' does and what it really is but i got absolutely nowhere.

Thanks Jeff. according to my psychologist that's exactly what's happened, they do love me but it's an unusual way to bring up a child and then the damage has been done. i've just realized how it's all part of still trying to control me even now i'm an adult. shame for them.

I'd like to thank everyone for their very caring replies, it's great to know that others have been in the same situation and that i'm not 'going mad' myself. there were so many good points here and many i mentioned to my parents and got the same replies,etc. i did mention that i was worried about how one day they might all do a 'Jonestown' that didn't go down well either.

Calling on an old RV

my husband and i were just talking at dinner about people we have called on or studied with.

some people i really liked, but it was clear that bringing them in the truth was like pushing a rope uphill.

we had a little chuckle that they were smarter than we were all along.

That's a lovely story and how wonderful the feeling of acceptance (no questions asked). i hope this encourages other's out there to do the same.

I also got that tract only my mother had hidden it in one of my anatomy books i'd taken with me to their house and also an Awake on the internet.........
